Location Scout Shelter Island New York
On a location scout job recently, I visited Shelter Island on the eastern end of Long Island, in Suffolk County (NY).
Shelter Island is very picturesque and overall, financially affluent, with many stately, well maintained homes (many only used as vacation homes…), some dating back to U.S. Colonial times.
Access to Shelter Island from the mainland is via The North Ferry and the South Ferry at either end of the island; the North Ferry arrives in Greenport, NY and the South Ferry arrives in North Haven, NY, continuing the route of NY SR 114 into Sag Harbor further south.
Shelter Island is a town and island at the eastern end of Long Island in the U.S. state of New York. It is part of the tip of Suffolk County and is separated from the rest of the county by water. The population was 2,392 at the 2010 census.
