Location Scout Video: Flip Video Road Test 1
A location scouting video road test using my hacked Flip UltraHD. Compact portable video cameras can be very useful for location scouting in addition to their generally intended purpose of being utilized for small-scale productions (i.e. podcasts) or home videos.
Flip Video – Wikipedia
The Flip Video camera is a tapeless camcorder for digital video created by Pure Digital Technologies, a company bought by Cisco Systems in March 2009. The Flip Video range was retired in April 2011 because despite spending $590 million to acquire parent company Pure Digital in 2009, Cisco felt it could not rationalize running a hard goods business with its core businesses of services and software. However Cisco did receive patents and other intellectual property from the acquisition which some in the company feel may prove valuable to their video transmission businesses in the future. The Flip also faced some competition from camera phones. Currently made and sold variants include the UltraHD, the MinoHD, and formerly the SlideHD until it sold out.
