Location Scouting News April 2024
Wow! How the time flies! …but here are some location scouting reports for ya!
Since I last posted here, we made it through a pandemic and a really awful storm/flood (at least in NJ near NYC) to a tv /film production boom, but then WGA and SAG labor strikes and here we are now spring 2024, in a film / tv production …correction (?) …and an EARTHQUAKE IN NJ!
I have been very fortunate to work on a handful of extraordinary tv shows and a film during the past several years and am forever grateful for these opportunities! Altho I started out “back in the day” working mostly in commercial / editorial still photography, I’m primarily a film / tv location scout for some time now.

Location Scouting FALLOUT (Amazon Prime, S1)
Amazon: Based on one of the greatest video games of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them above.
You KNOW that the video game FALLOUT as a tv show, with JONATHAN NOLAN (PERSON OF INTEREST, WESTWORLD) behind it is going to be AWEXOME! It IS; earlier this week I was very fortunate and privileged to attend a private screening in Manhattan for the cast and crew of the first couple of episodes, and I can attest it will indeed be AWEXOME! All season one episodes premiere on Amazon Prime beginning April 11, 2024. Be sure and watch!
Altho the storyline is generally set in a fictional version of the American southwest, we scouted and filmed many parts in New York and New Jersey! Parts were filmed in Namibia and of course, the actual U.S. west.
Supervising Location Manager was PAUL KRAMER. CHRIS ARENA was our unit’s Location Manager as well. MANDY DILLIN Location-Managed distant locations from out in L.A.
Paul, Chris and I have worked together in the past. I have worked with Paul at PERSON OF INTEREST, THE ENEMY WITHIN and 21 BRIDGES. Chris and I have worked together on PLAYERS and ALMOST FAMILY.

Location Scouting AMERICAN HORROR STORIES SEASON 3
Rotten Tomatoes: “American Horror Stories” is a spin-off of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s award-winning anthology series “American Horror Story.” The weekly anthology series features a different horror story in each episode. Since 2011, the creators of the series have redefined the horror genre with various installments featuring a creepy asylum, a coven of witches, a traveling freak show, a haunted hotel and the apocalypse itself. The television series sprouted a legion of dedicated fans who anticipate what terrors the next chapter will hold.
CHRIS BRITTON and TOMMY SOUTH were the Location Managers at American Horror Stories (AHSS3) during my tenure of (4) episodes. Production was based in NJ, but I heard from at least Westchester CFilm Office we cut short by the 2023 Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) strike, which began summer 2023. Now that strike is resolved (the WGA strike was already underway; we worked off pre-strike scripts…), it’s my understanding a new team is handling Locations going forward, as is sometimes the nature of film / tv production. I have also read (but cannot confirm) that the first (4) episodes our team produced (and are currently being aired) will be season 3; the remaining episodes not yet aired with additional episodes added will be season 4.
